Ready Egg Products Ltd is the fourth largest producer and supplier of egg products in the UK and Ireland and is based in Lisnaskea, Fermanagh. As part of the production process Ready Egg removes the shells from eggs. Ready Egg had been pursuing the option of incinerating their egg shells on the UK mainland before the NISP introduction to RecyCo showed potential to compost this material in N. Ireland at a saving of £35/T. RecyCo – a local waste management company - have also begun taking contaminated cardboard from Ready Egg and offering a rebate for these materials helping improve Ready Egg’s bottom line. Overall there are economic benefits greater than £110,000 to the two parties involved. Associated with these economic advantages, there is also a reduction in CO2 emissions of 1487T and the elimination of 540T of virgin raw materials through recycling.
