Laing O’Rourke contacted the NISP South East team to seek solutions for several hundred plywood boards no longer required at a site in Pembury, Kent. The boards had been reused as many times as possible and would be destined for recycling as wood chip if a re-use solution could not be found. The National Community Wood Recycling Project (NCWRP) provides a UK-wide service collecting waste timber from construction and demolition, for re-use by local community projects. The plywood boards were collected from the site by the Brighton Wood Recycling Project and the wood proved very popular among several community groups and charities in the area.
