A report published by the National Audit Office has singled out NISP for significantly contributing to the business waste diverted through the Business Resource Efficiency and Waste (BREW) Programme which ran from 2005 to 2008, receiving only 7.5% of the monies available through the scheme. The report found that a ‘review of the Department’s data established that much of the reported reduction was attributable to NISP, which was able to achieve relatively quick reductions by helping businesses to trade materials that might otherwise be sent to landfill’.
