Decreasing the impact of packaging from food waste

Released on Sep 01 2006

NISP-WM member John Pointon and Sons Ltd, based in Staffordshire has created a new business opportunity enabling companies to comply with the Animal By-Products Regulations. The Regulations no longer allow for the disposal of food by products to landfill so alternative disposal routes need to become available. John Pointon and Sons Ltd can now process the food waste through their rendering process. However, they are also able to segregate the steel and aluminium packaging so that it can be reused or reprocessed.
