Advantage West Midlands' stalwart, Ralph Hepworth, became the first ever recipient of the ‘Outstanding Contribution to Industrial Symbiosis Award’ last week, presented to him by Peter Laybourn, Programme Director of NISP.

Incorporating the industrial symbiosis approach into company business strategy is helping a number of NISP members to buck the trend and positively thrive in today’s testing economic climate.

In collaboration with a number of organizations within the West Midlands, NISP organized a conference to present innovative and new technologies and systems together with practices that could help to minimize waste and reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill by turning it into a resource. The event also included a tailored workshop that enabled organizations to exchange information and included the opportunity for delegates to input into the Regional Spatial Strategy.
