The BREW Centre for Local Authorities is a consortium project between the National Industrial Symbiosis Programme, the Local Government Association and Oxfordshire County Council and is funded by DEFRA. The Centre is supported by a steering group of other Business Resource Efficiency organisations such as WRAP, Envirowise and the Carbon Trust.
The main aim of the project is to be a central support service for local authorities by:
Developing a network of local authority officers, from waste management, economic development, planning and policy fields, who are engaging with their local business communities.
Collecting and disseminating best practice on how to support businesses in becoming resource efficient
Supporting trailblazing local authorities to deliver projects that help achieve increased profits for businesses through waste minimisation and more efficient use of resources.
Organising events to help educate network members on the issues surrounding improved business resource efficiency
