Moving to more sustainable waste and resource management will require enormous changes in facilities, skills, investment and attitudes.
Local Authorities play a pivotal role. They work with businesses in their areas through such functions as planning, inward investment, regeneration, economic development, procurement, trading standards and environmental health and deals with business on a daily basis through each of these functions.
Working with NISP helps Government and local authorities achieve their sustainability aims by promoting resource efficiency and helps business achieve better resource and waste management. It provides a real opportunity for local government to be at the cutting edge of resource efficiency.
The following link is a report of a workshop that was held to promote practical collaboration to create resource efficiency strategies. To download this report click here
NISP can arrange workshops and seminars for local authorities and businesses to get to know the programme and how it operates.
