Trevor Knipe

Director for Northern Ireland

Trevor joined NISP from Invest Northern Ireland where he was Manager of Sustainable Development, helping Northern Ireland's businesses become more resource efficient and championing the development of Environmental Management Systems. He has extensive knowledge of industry in Northern Ireland and is well known in Government circles having been involved in the development of the Northern Ireland Waste Management and Sustainable Development Strategies and represented industry interests in the development of environmental legislation.

Trevor’s training is in chemistry with a particular interest in waste analysis and treatment, contaminated land investigation and remediation and waste recovery and recycling. He is a Chartered Waste Manager and Chartered Environmentalist, and previously the Chair of IEMA in Northern Ireland and a member of the Northern Ireland Waste Management Advisory Board - overseeing the delivery of the Waste Management Strategy. Trevor established the successful Northern Ireland Waste Exchange Bureau and managed a number of resource efficiency programmes helping businesses across Northern Ireland save money and improve their environmental performance.
